Urbanization and its environmental outcomes: The world is undergoing the largest wave of urban growth in history. Urbanization has brought a number of opportunities for improving people’s well-being, but it also brings serious environmental problems (e.g., urban heat island, air pollution, groundwater overuse and depletion) and deteriorates human-environment relationship. Historically, some major metropolitan areas of the world such as Los Angeles, London, and Tokyo have experienced serious environmental issues. Please do research on London’s Killer Fog of 1952 and answer the following questions: How did this severe environmental event happen? What was the impact of this event? What was the role of urbanization in this event? What lessons can we learn from the event?
