Write a research paper that analyzes methods used to appropriately manage teams and groups within organizations. In your research paper, be sure to include the following elements:

Distinguish between a group and a team.

Distinguish between Teamthink and Groupthink (see article in Unit VII Required Reading, Manz & Neck, 1995), and identify benefits and drawbacks.

Discuss the process of evolving a group into a team and the importance of organizational culture in that process.

Discuss leadership styles that are effective for successful management of multicultural groups and teams.

Include a discussion on any aspect of leadership covered in the course that was of particular interest to you. All aspects of leadership do not need to be included, but followership, ethics, leadership styles, multicultural leadership are all topics that have been studied, and any one (or more) that you found particularly interesting could be incorporated into the discussion.

Now, for this week’s discussion board assignment, you will discuss your anticipated approach to this upcoming assignment. How will you begin your research of the topic? How will you approach locating articles for support?

For the upcoming assignment I would go ahead and briefly review the Team think and Group think article to get a better understanding of the topic. I might take a few notes of the main key points that I find interesting or maybe important. I would go back and briefly review my notes on leadership styles. I might even go back to unit 2’s weekly threaded discussions and review what other students might have to say about leadership styles. Sometimes I find when I reread what other students have to say about certain topics they tend to trigger great questions about the specific topics. They bring up  great points and ideas that I might have missed from the readings. Lastly, I would refer to the CSU library to review any journals that would cover any aspects of leadership.
